When I tested the S1, it was quick to map our downstairs, which is home to linoleum flooring in the kitchen-diner and bathrooms, plus carpeting of medium-pile as well as a large area rug. It easily drove close to walls without crashing into them, and was able to drive across thresholds for rooms that are raised without problem, but it sometimes was unable to navigate down stairs in a single move. The S1 also did a fantastic job cleaning hard floors with its mop that moved smoothly on the flat side against the floor and lifting itself when it was near carpet or rugs.
The docking station on the S1 automatically empties its trash bin and replenishes its water tank onboard with clean, ozonated water before every mopping session. The dock also includes a cleaning solution in the water to ensure deep cleaning. The S1's tank of water holds enough for about a dozen cleaning sessions before it needs to be cleaned, although it will differ based on how often you use the mop.
Like all 2-in-1 robots the S1 requires regular maintenance to ensure it is operating well. It is necessary to regularly wash out the dirty tank to prevent it from becoming clogged. Also, you'll need to clean the swivel wheel and sensors frequently to avoid them from getting clogged by dirt or dust. Overall, the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.
2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete
This all-in-one robotic vacuum and mop combo from Ecovacs is a reliable option for your cleaning requirements. The Ecovacs robot vacuum comes with 8,700Pa suction power and comes with a variety of innovative features including voice control and smart path scheduling that cleans furniture and eliminates obstacles. The mopping capabilities of the robot are impressive, with mops that rotate that actually lift and scrub the floor, instead of simply drag the pad across it. Its navigation capabilities are good, too, even though it is sometimes hung in the small carpets or area mats that I have in my home (which is something you can reduce by creating a virtual border within the application). Its mopping is quite excellent, too, with a pair of spinning mops that actually lift and scrub the floors, instead of just dragging the pad over it. The mops can also be cleaned using heated water and dried in the basestation as needed. The mops can also be refilled at the top of the station if they are required.
3. Dreame X40 ultra
Dreame released the luxe X30 Ultra earlier this year, but their new top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum comes with more impressive features. It offers outstanding cleaning results and hands-off maintenance which makes it a strong contender for our best mop and vacuum robots. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition and a longer side brush guarantee a thorough, custom-designed clean.
The X40 Ultra does an excellent job of vacuuming, removing large and small particles from hard floors as well as carpets. It cleaned the dirtiest places of our tests with ease, avoiding pet hairs and other dirt.
